Tether
Tether, previously known as Realcoin, is a cryptocurrency company based in Hong Kong and Isle of Man.[1] It is a subsidiary of iFinex.[2]
History
The company was launched as Realcoin in July 2014 by Brock Pierce, Craig Sellars and Reeve Collins using the Mastercoin protocol.[3] In November 2014, it was rebranded to Tether, and announced partnerships with Bitfinex, Expresscoin, GoCoin and ZenBox.[1:1]
Organization
Tether is a member of the Blockchain Alliance.[4][5]
