State of the World Forum
The State of the World Forum, previously the Friends of the Foreign Policy Association, was an American non-profit public benefit corporation based in Mill Valley, California.[1][2]
Its website described it as "a global leadership network comprised of eminent individuals -- ranging from Heads of State to grass roots organizers, Nobel Laureates to business leaders, policy makers to social activists -- drawn from the governmental, business and civil society sectors, committed to discerning and implementing those principles, values and actions necessary to guide humanity wisely as it gives shape to an increasingly global and interdependent world."
History
The organization was initially founded on July 30, 1991 by James Garrison as the Friends of the Foreign Policy Association.[3] On September 6, 1991, its name was changed to the International Foreign Policy Association (IFPA).[4]
The State of the World Forum was officially founded in 1995 by Garrison, with Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev serving as convening chairman.[1:1] The organization's name was formally changed on December 27, 1995.[5]
On December 17, 2008, M•CAM International announced that David Martin would address the State of the World Forum at its “Networking Creativity to Solve Global Challenges: A 2020 Vision” event, scheduled for November 12-14, 2009.[6]
