Office for Life Sciences
The Office for Life Sciences (OLS) is a unit of the Government of the United Kingdom.
History
The OLS was created in January 2009 by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.[1]
The first policy paper published by the OLS was titled "UK Life Sciences Strategy," and was made available online December 5, 2011.[2] One of the described plans from the paper was to "make the UK the ‘go-to’ place for experimental medicine."[3]
An update was published on August 20, 2012, focusing on a shift in investment and overall priority to cell and gene therapies, regulatory ‘flexibility,’ and advances in genetics.[4]
On December 10, 2012, another update was published titled "Strategy for UK life sciences: one year on."[5]
