Matt Mackowiak

Matthew L. Mackowiak is an American political consultant based in Austin, Texas. He is the founder and president of Potomac Strategy Group (PSG), chairman of the Travis County Republican Party, vice president of the board of directors for the Texas Cowboys, and is a member of the Council for National Policy (CNP) and the Headliners Club.[1]
He is part of the leadership team for the Mighty American Strike Force (MASF)[2] and Patient First Coalition.[3] He formerly served as director of the Austin Community College Center for Public Policy and Political Studies and board member of the Balcones County Club.[1:1] He has advised numerous political candidates and officials including Hugh Shine, Will Hurd, Harvey Hilderbran, Jeff Brown, John Ratcliffe, Sean Parnell, Pete Flores, Bill Flores and Conrad Burns,[1:2] and previously worked at Burson-Marsteller.[4]
History
Mackowiak served as a confidential assistant in the United States Department of Homeland Security (HHS) in 2003-2004.[5] He led operations for a county in Iowa for George W. Bush's 2004 presidential re-election campaign.[1:3]
He then worked as press secretary for Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison from 2007-2009.[5:1] He founded Potomac Strategy Group in 2009, and served as campaign manager for Bill Flores for Congress in 2010-2011.[5:2]
Mackowiak was a 2016 delegate to the British-American Project (BAP).[1:4]
Mackowiak began serving as chairman of the Travis County Republican Party in 2017, and graduated from Leadership Austin's "Essential Class."[1:5]
In 2020, Mackowiak launched Save Austin Now alongside Democratic activist Cleo Petricek to improve living standards in Austin.[1:6]
On January 29, 2025, Mackowiak was named as one of "four senior operatives" managing the newly-launched Patient First Coalition, working to support Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s confirmation as Secretary of Health and Human Services in the second Donald Trump administration.[3:1]
