Global Alliance for Responsible Media

The Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM) is an initiative of the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA). It was launched "to address the challenge of harmful content on digital media platforms and its monetization via advertising."[1]

History

GARM was launched in June 2019.[2] In November 2019, it joined the World Economic Forum's Platform for Shaping the Future of Media, Entertainment and Sport as a flagship project.[3]

On May 5, 2023, United States House Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan subpoenaed documents and communications from officials at GARM and WFA "related to their coordinated efforts to demonetize and censor disfavored speech online."[4]
