College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia
The College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (CHCPBC) is a Canadian provincial regulatory college based in Vancouver, British Columbia. It regulates audiologists, dietitians, hearing instrument practitioners, occupational therapists, opticians, optometrists, physical therapists, psychologists, and speech-language pathologists in BC.[1]
History
On July 24, 2023, BC Health Minister Adrian Dix issued a ministerial order appointing Allan Seckel to lead the process of amalgamating the province's health colleges.[2]
As part of his mandate, Seckel was to amalgamate eleven colleges into two. Seven of those colleges (the College of Dietitians of British Columbia, College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia, College of Opticians of British Columbia, College of Optometrists of British Columbia, College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia, College of Psychologists of British Columbia, and College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of British Columbia) became the combined College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia as of June 28, 2024, known as "amalgamation day."[2:1][3][4]
