Alvea
Alvea is an American biotechnology company based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
It is focused on “dramatically reducing the time from molecule to trials for new medicines” in order to “stop future pandemics in their tracks and unlock the impact of biotechnology advances on human health.”[1]
The company is developing COVID-19 vaccines, and is funded by Alameda Research, Open Philanthropy, Metaplanet and Good Forever.[2][3]
Alvea is an organization founded around the ideology and community of effective altruism.
History
In a February 16, 2022 post to the Effective Altruism Forum, company co-founder Kyle Fish announced that Alvea had recently launched in order to develop a COVID-19 vaccine specific to the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2.[4]
