Verus Investment Management

Verus Investment Management was an American investment firm based in Highland Hills, Ohio.

History

David Rogers Webb incorporated Verus Investment Management in December 2002 and signed a lease for office space.[1][2] He left Shaker Investments in January 2003, which “slashed a gaping hole in the side of” the firm, “both from a financial and a personnel standpoint.”[3] He brought 24 of his former colleagues from Shaker Investments, including Dan Flaningan, Brenton Luce and Bryan Moloney.[4]

Bankruptcy

In late 2004, Verus suffered significant losses, leading it to abandon its office space and subsequently file for protection under chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code on December 31, 2004.[2:1]

It does not necessarily appear as though Verus officially closed its doors, and it remains actively registered to operate in the State of Ohio.[5] Furthermore, there don’t appear to be any complaints or other such filings available through the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).[6]

However, various actions were taken to wind down operations of the firm that suggest it functionally ended its business. A February 7, 2005 issue of the Cayman Islands Gazette reveals that Verus Investment Fund Ltd. had entered voluntary liquidation.[7]

Organization

Verus was made up of a number of corporations:[8]
