Justin Trudeau
Justin Trudeau is a Canadian politician serving as the Prime Minister of Canada and leader of the Liberal Party of Canada. He is the elected head of state for the Government of Canada.
Trudeau was a United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Advocate for 2021-2023.[1]
He is the half-brother of Kyle Kemper.[2]
History
With the Liberal Party and Trudeau trailing behind the Conservative Party of Canada in the polls in August 2015, the party engaged Precision Strategies before the 2015 Canadian federal election was called "to build the infrastructure necessary to run a data-driven, grassroots-focused, modern campaign."[3]
During a 2017 interview at Harvard University, World Economic Forum founder Klaus Schwab bragged that he had "penetrate[d] the cabinets" of various world leaders, claiming that half of the Cabinet of Canada were graduates of the Forum of Young Global Leaders.[4]
At the Parliamentary Press Gallery Dinner on May 4, 2019, Trudeau joked that the reason the media let him and his party off easy is “because we paid them $600,000,000.00.”[5][6]
COVID-19
On March 23, 2020, Trudeau announced that the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) had contracted BlueDot through for COVID-19 modelling and monitoring.[7][8]
On April 23, 2020, Trudeau announced the creation of the COVID-19 Immunity Task Force.[9][10]
On October 23, 2020, Trudeau announced that he had awarded Precision NanoSystems $18.2 million from Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED)'s Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) to develop an RNA vaccine for COVID-19.[11]
On December 10, 2020, Trudeau announced the implementation of Canada's first nationwide vaccine injury compensation program in preparation for the rollout of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.[12]
In April 2021, Trudeau pledged on behalf of the Government of Canada to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40-45% below 2005 levels by the year 2030, an acceleration of previously announced goals.[13]
In an August 2021 presentation to Vaccine Choice Canada, David E. Martin accused Trudeau of misleading the Canadian public by withholding information about the licensing agreements between Acuitas Therapeutics, Arbutus Biopharma, Pfizer and Moderna.[14]
On August 17, 2021, Trudeau threatened "consequences" for federal workers who chose not to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.[15]
2021 federal election
Prior to the 2021 federal election, Trudeau and the federal government gave $61 million to 1,500 media outlet companies under the umbrella of pandemic-related emergency relief.[16]
During a September 16, 2021 interview on the French language show, La semaine des 4 Julie, Trudeau described Canadians who declined to receive a COVID-19 vaccine as "extremists who don’t believe in science, they’re often misogynists, also often racists. It’s a small group that muscles in," he continued, "and we have to make a choice in terms of leaders, in terms of the country. Do we tolerate these people?"[17] Maxime Bernier, leader of the People's Party of Canada, called Trudeau a "fascist psychopath" in a December 28, 2021, response on Twitter.[18]
On January 5, 2022, Trudeau spoke about anger towards the 'unvaccinated' during a press conference:
“It's not just about governments and health workers frustrated that there are Canadians who still continue to choose to not get vaccinated. It's fellow Canadians as well. When people are seeing cancer treatments and elective surgeries put off because beds are filled with people who chose not to get vaccinated, they're frustrated. When people see that we are in lockdowns or serious public health restrictions right now because of the risk posed to all of us by unvaccinated people, people get angry.”[19]
Emergencies Act
On February 14, 2022, Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act for the first time in Canada's history to grant the government extraordinary powers to quash protests against COVID-19 pandemic measures across Canada, particularly the Freedom Convoy 2022 in Ottawa and related protests at border crossings in Coutts, Alberta and Windsor, Ontario. Ontario premier Doug Ford approved of the invocation, while Alberta premier Jason Kenney described the action as "unhelpful" as Alberta had the Coutts protest under control.[20]
The House of Commons of Canada subsequently passed a motion on February 21 approving the invocation. Trudeau, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland and New Democratic Party (NDP) leader Jagmeet Singh all voted in favour (along with the rest of the Liberal members of parliament), while the Conservative Party of Canada and Bloc Québécois voted against.[21] Just two days later, Trudeau revoked the use of the Emergencies Act on the basis that "the situation is no longer an emergency."[22]
As the Trudeau government put further pressure on the agriculture industry in July 2022 to rapidly reduce their fertilizer use by 30%, farmers sounded the alarm, warning of worsening food shortages and huge economic losses (estimated at $10.4 billion CAD over the course of the decade).[23]
On December 13, 2024, Trudeau told Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland that he no longer wanted her to serve as finance minister, offering her the opportunity to move to a different position in the Cabinet of Canada. The following Monday, December 16, Freeland announced her resignation from her position as finance minister, also withdrawing as Deputy Prime Minister.[24]
On January 6, 2024, Trudeau announced he would resign as Prime Minister following a leadership race within the Liberal Party of Canada, to be held in the coming months.[25]
Rumours
Rumours circulated in early 2022 that Trudeau owned a 40% stake in Acuitas Therapeutics, either directly or through the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation.[26] This was refuted by the Office of the Prime Minister, CEO Thomas Madden and co-founder Pieter Cullis.[27]
On February 13, 2022, an article was published on Substack that claimed Trudeau was a former or current owner of Providence Therapeutics, and as such, had profited greatly from the worldwide use of COVID-19 vaccines. The article alleged that Providence-related patents owned by the University of British Columbia (UBC) had been transferred into Trudeau's name (with the help of Klaus Schwab and Bill Gates), subsequently licensed to Moderna and Pfizer, and then sold to Everest Medicines in China.[28]
