College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) is a Canadian provincial regulatory agency based in Vancouver, British Columbia.
History
Brian Westgate wrote a letter to Heidi Oetter on April 8, 2019 on the topic of amendments to registration bylaws for the CPSBC.[1]
COVID-19
In April 2020, Westgate was the listed contact point for comments on a proposed addition to the CPSBC bylaws surrounding the registration of international medical graduates.[2] A group of concerned physicians wrote a letter to Westgate and Oetter expressing their concern and alarm over the manner in which the new policy was “being introduced and rushed through in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.”[3]
On September 29, 2022, CPSBC issues a citation against Dr. Daniel Nagase for statements made related to ivermectin and COVID-19 vaccines.[4][5]
Organization
CPSBC is an organizational member of the Coalition for Physician Enhancement (CPE),[6] the Federation of Medical Regulatory Authorities of Canada (FMRAC)[7] and the International Association of Medical Regulatory Authorities (IAMRA).[8]
