Bayer is a German multinational pharmaceutical company based in Leverkusen, North Rhine-Westphalia.
History
Bayer closed a deal to acquire Monsanto in June 2018.[1][2]
COVID-19
On March 25, 2020, Bayer was announced as a partner of the COVID-19 Therapeutics Accelerator funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Wellcome Trust, and Mastercard to “accelerate treatments, vaccines, and diagnostics.”[3]
On May 26, 2020, Bayer received a $930,000 grant from the Government of Canada through the Global Innovation Clusters program for a project titled "Improving ICU Capacity During COVID-19 Outbreaks." Bayer's partners on the project included numerous hospitals in Toronto, Ontario.[4]
On June 6, 2023, Bayer announced it had partnered with Acuitas Therapeutics to "support Bayer’s in vivo gene editing and protein replacement programs with the goal of specifically delivering RNA payloads to the desired target organ, the liver."[5][6]
